“To Protect and to Serve”
***Disclaimer: I got this idea from Pinterest, an exercise where you write a 20 word sentence, then a 19 word sentence, and so on, ending the story with one word.***
—
I solemnly swear my fundamental duty is to serve my interests over the community; to safeguard my life and property.
I won’t protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, the peaceful against violence or disorder.
And furthermore, I most definitely won’t respect the constitutional rights of all people to liberty, equality and justice.
My private life sullied…I won’t develop self-restraint…or be constantly mindful of the welfare of others.
Dishonest in thought and deed…non-exemplary in obeying the laws and the regulations of my department.
I will act officiously and permit personal feelings, prejudices, political beliefs…to influence my decisions.
I will enforce the law discourteously and inappropriately…always with malice and ill will.
I will always employ unnecessary force and violence and will always accept gratuities.
I will engage in corruption and bribery in the pursuit of injustice.
I know I am responsible for my standard of unprofessional performance.
I’ll take every opportunity to diminish my knowledge and competence.
I further swear I will not support the constitution.
That I will not faithfully enforce the laws.
Will not perform the duties of officer.
To the best of my ability.
I swear…accept this oath.
Subject to all limitations.
I will protect.
Will serve.
Myself.
