03/07/2025: Incivility TRUMPs Civility

I thought I was getting over my bout of brain fog and disappointment in the world outside, but it all hit me again hard this week. Inspiration has been fleeting and my patience has worn thin. If I don’t find a change of scenery soon and reset, I don’t know what I’m going to do.

As many people probably did this week, I got sucked into the political noise, but honestly lately what else is new? Friends I’ve talked to are barely hanging on in this crazy world right now and I wish we could just shut it out. For the already-suffering majority, times are about to get even harder. But thankfully the rich people are safe and in charge…

The one thing I learned from that 90 minute rambling session about nothing of importance is that we need to start listening to what’s not being said instead of being distracted by lies, or whatever they want us to be worried about. While we bicker about the name change of a body of water, he’s working behind the scenes to do far more terrible things, and we won’t even notice because we’re worried about the wrong things. Also, while I’m on the subject, am I still allowed to have a globe that says “The Gulf of Mexico?” Asking for a friend.

And another thing: does nobody else have more questions than answers? It can’t just be me. I believe we should be naturally curious, and if we don’t understand something, we should actually try to better our knowledge on the subject instead of arguing in the heat of emotion without sound logic to support our arguments. I urge anyone who will heed me to set your emotions aside and listen to the facts, especially the lack thereof right now. Remember what I said about listening to what’s not being said.

As the rich continue to steal from the poor and the political climate leans more authoritarian, the safety of democracy feels far off on a distant horizon and very much out of reach. But I guess we’re just going to drill through the core of the earth, fire every single person whose job is deemed “wasteful,” and escalate petty issues until no one can afford groceries anymore. “Look at me, I changed the name of a body of water that didn’t need changing; meanwhile eggs are going to be $20 in this new tariff war I started. Oh, and don’t forget: Drill, baby, drill.”

I’m also here to tell you that diversity doesn’t crash planes. I’d like to take this time to urge you to pay attention to what it means to back out of DEI programs, especially what it means for everyone who looks different than the majority of the population who wants this so badly. I honestly think this says a lot about the right-winged side, and I can practically smell the eugenics and the dictatorship brewing. Better start practicing your salutes, and make sure to grab your swasti-car today!

I’d really like to watch an address with real-time fact-checking subtitles, because I think it would speak for itself. Something I heard from a political streamer sums it up perfectly for me: “We officially don’t have any interest in the truth at all.” The main thing I noticed was the blatant disrespect on the right-winged side, not to mention the world leader himself who just couldn’t resist throwing continuous jabs when he could. I also noticed that he didn’t once look into the eyes of the left-winged side as he spewed all his “solid facts,” not unless he was throwing said petty jabs their way of course.

My question is this: Why is it okay for half the room to scream “USA” ceaselessly - and as a result actively interfere with the address - but when anyone disagrees and starts to boo, and one person stands up to speak their mind they’re promptly escorted out of the room? Funny, I didn’t know that’s how bipartisanship worked. I also didn’t know that petty poking at people who oppose you was an admirable trait of a nation’s leader.

I do know one thing though: I’m glad someone stood up during that horrible brag-fest of a speech. More of us need to. In regards to that, all I have left to say is RESPECT. I think we forget that we have every right to stand up for ourselves, and I hope that single act was enough to remind people of the power they possess. And the uproar of cheering and “bye byes” that ensued after that one person got kicked out is the reason why we can’t get along, why we’ll never be able to reach over the aisle again, and why we’ll never know cooperation, compassion or progress again. It’s a terrible shame, really. Maybe even “the worst shame in history,” to take a line out of the old braggart’s book.

Last I checked, if you’re going to play the game, you have to live with the fact that not everyone is going to kiss your feet and blindly follow you if they don’t agree with you. Or you literally have to change the rules so that no one is even allowed to oppose you. That’s how I took the House speaker’s warning. I considered it a threatening statement directed to the free people to fall in line or suffer the consequences, and that’s not a bright future to look forward to.

The only thing the delusional speech-giver said that was true was that it’s time for “big dreams and bold action.” Now that I can get behind, but I will not stand behind him to achieve this. I prefer my individual freedoms, and seeking the truth of worldly matters, not diverting from them. So long as civility is fought with incivility, I won’t budge from my stance to oppose him. It’s what I’m most passionate about as of late: holding fast to my beliefs, and speaking my mind when I see fit to do so. We all have that right, and it’s time we start exercising it more.

It’s really hard not to want to throw in the towel and just let things be as they are, but a wise man - also known as the greatest president we never had - shared some uplifting words that I really want to start believing in:

  • “Despair is not an option. Giving up is not acceptable…the stakes are just too high.”

  • “Real change only occurs when ordinary people stand up by the millions against oppression and injustice, and fight back.”

Would you be surprised to discover who said these words? The knowledge of that wouldn’t make them any less true, yet I’m sure you’d think I’m some socialist whack job that you just “don’t know anymore” because I admire the man for the truth he speaks when he doesn’t have to. Seriously, this man is still fighting tooth and nail to protect the ordinary people, and the fact that he sits when he’s expected to stand and walks out and gives his own speech when he’s supposed to stay and listen to a delusional one speaks volumes about his honest and unwavering character. Meanwhile the person we’re supposed to look up to expects us to believe that we’re living in some new “Golden Age” of his own divine design, while he feeds us every possible brag and incorrect statistic he can spew. I know for a fact that the only reason he rambled on so long is so he could break another record to brag about. Surely now he’ll be forever known as the guy who talked the longest, signed the most executive orders, and said “BILLYONS” the most. And apparently that’s what matters most. Good for you and your delicate little ego I guess, but what have you really done Mr. “You’re Fired?”

Look, you know me. You know I’ve never been confined to labels. You know what’s in my heart and that I always try to make sure my intentions are good. It’s not crazy for me to want the world to be treated fairly and for real change to happen. I’ve never entertained the likes of bullies and sore winners, and it’s not far-fetched to say that I’m done with the hate and the lies and that I’m ready for some harsh truths and some human decency.

It’s hard enough being human already, so why all this fighting instead of helping each other learn and grow? It shouldn’t matter who said it; if the words have meaning, are true, and carry weight, everyone should lend an unbiased ear and take a look at the world outside and stop ignoring the catastrophic state it’s in. I know as an individual I can’t do much, but I’m starting to look into ways I can make my voice heard. So I’m sharing these links so that you might do the same. If you’re unhappy with how things are, or want to give a shoutout to our reps in the House and Congress for doing something good or not doing anything at all, go find your representative and send them a message. It’s time we all start speaking up, I think. If we don’t like something, we can’t sit around hoping that it’ll change. We have to be that change. Maybe then more people would stand up, walk out, and speak out. Or is it just me?

Listen, if you start to make sense, I will happily lend an ear. But until that happens, I have to go with my gut on this one. Tell me true: is anyone else reaping the benefits of “common sense, safety, optimism, and wealth all across our wonderful land?” I’d be surprised if the majority said yes and actually meant it.

In short, we have to be more disruptive. Right now, the voices of those who don’t agree with the state of the world are one to a billion in a sea of chaos and fear. And I’m here to tell you that we miserable few gotta get that free speech while it’s still good. We see how free speech went during the address, and I can tell our days are numbered in that department. So be angry, and damn it, be loud about it.
